We have been increasingly busy at Perth Airport and particularly in the Lounges since we welcomed the QF9/10, direct services to and from London Heathrow within the new Perth International Airport (T3).
It has been just as much a learning experience for the staff as it has been for the passengers!
In the Lounges, we have been trained and have the pleasure of working in our new International Transit Lounge. This Lounge has been highly discussed in the media, throughout travel circles and is the most talked about Lounge in the network at present time! *
The International Transit Lounge has been specially crafted for our International Transit passengers to ensure they optimize their time either before or after the Ultra Long Haul flight from Perth to London. This is the first flight in history to link Australia directly with Europe. QF 9 and 10 are operated by one of three of our Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.
Passengers are able to enjoy features exclusive to the transit Lounge, such as an Outdoor Terrace, the Rock Pool inspired BBQ for grilling a Neil Perry menu selection, new and improved shower facilities, including special light technology that can be amended to suit individual needs.
These can be set to “sunlight” mode to mirror natural light if the passengers are arriving from London in the early afternoon, or “moonlight” mode if departing to London in the night, in order to aid in winding down for the night. There is even a brand new luggage shelf in all showers for bags rather than putting them on the floor, which is a lovely touch in my books!
All of our Lounges feature ASPAR products that facilitate relaxation, calm and invigoration, which are perfect for before or after long flights. If you want to experience the most relaxing pre, during and post flight beauty routines at home, you can find the ASPAR products here.
The Transit Lounge also boasts a relaxation room, that has light yoga/stretching classes for our premium passengers by Bodhi J Spa. I have participated in one and it was most calming, especially with the inclusion of essential oils and a chime to encourage the centering of thoughts and mindful breathing.
The ambiance of the Transit Lounge is cool, calming and relaxing, with accents of Green and Gold to subtlety represent the Spirit of Australia. Whether you’re returning home, or going away, it is the perfect setting to relax, finish of some last minute business or simply take it all in!Our new Transit Lounge has been a learning experience for staff and passengers alike!
Here is a little run down of who may use the International Transit Lounge in Perth
- Qantas Club Bronze or Qantas Club Silver Members travelling on QF 9 to PER-LHR
- Qantas Club Bronze or Qantas Club Silver Members travelling on QF 10 from London, transiting via Perth to Melbourne
- Gold, Platinum, Platinum One and Chairman’s Lounge Members travelling on QF 9 or QF10 WITH INTERNATIONAL CONNECTIONS ONLY.
- Passengers travelling domestically on QF10 without International Connections are invited to use the respective Lounge associated with their status in T4, such as the Qantas Club or the Business Lounge**
That being said, QF 9 and QF10 feature DOMESTIC SECTORS of INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS. If you are interested in checking out the Dreamliner, and not able to make it to London anytime soon, I would recommend booking a Domestic Service to/from PER/MEL on QF9/10. This is a great way to see the aircraft and try it for yourself, without having to go to Europe and back!
I was lucky enough to attend the Press Opening of the new Transit Lounge the day before it officially opened 🙂 I assisted the Promo Team in hosting the corporate and media guests, and also some very special ambassadors of the airline as well.
I hope this encourages you to try out our new services, soon!
*Aside from the Perth Business Lounge of course, which has a wood fire pizza oven. All of the new Lounges in our network have new product offerings, including an Asian-Fusion inspired meal to be featured in the new Melbourne Lounge currently under refurbishment!
