I’m currently on holidays so the posts will be few and far between… One of the most recent flights before my leave was London. I was looking forward to this a lot as I had swapped it for a Bangkok (where I have been lots of times before ) so that I could fly with my good friend Jane. I was even more excited when another friend of ours, Kristie, was put onto the flight too! I think everyone thought I was crazy, as London Heathrow is one of the busiest and most difficult flights (notorious amongst crew)…but I didn’t care because I was flying with my friends! We landed at around 8:30pm, and after deciding that the room service menu was not up to our culinary standard, we decided to go to McDonald’s instead! 😉 See?! I do like McDonalds, but only as a naughty treat for burgers, and most certainly not over croissants in Paris! Anyway, after we got our meal, we decided to eat it in the lobby and take advantage of the free wifi and ordered a bottle of red, which we then christened “the McWine”! We got an early night and then decided to wake up at 6:30am (ok, I decided and forced the girls to, as well) so that we would be able to reach the first stop on our list, Notting Hill, early enough for breakfast! After we got our tube tickets, pored over the map for a bit and had a wrong turn, we arrived at Notting Hill gate tube station just in time for some eggs and french toast, YUM! We stopped at the vintage markets on Portobello road, and generally soaked up the cool air, wonderful smells and very pretty sights. Of course, it wouldn’t be a layover without a multitude of photos, and this time they were taken by Jane, who I have now decided is my official blog photographer. (When we fly together, and I hope we will again soon!) After Notting Hill, we hit up Westminster, saw Big Ben and the London Eye, and then strolled through Hyde Park (where all of the animals started following us around because I kept stopping to feed them/talk to them) on the way to Knightsbridge where we went to Harrods, had a pie and then went back to the hotel for a nap before our flight back to Dubai.
All in all it was a very busy and fun filled layover, and such a treat to fly with one of my best friends from here! I’m so lucky that we are in the same group, and I hope our upcoming October roster brings many more flights together! Yay!
