This weekend just gone was the Staff Open Day for Qantas’ new Boeing 787 Dreamliner! While this aircraft isn’t the only of its kind, it is unique in the fact that it’s the first Dreamliner in the Qantas fleet.
Great Southern Land will be operating the first ever direct flight between Australia and Europe (PER-LHR). I was so proud and honoured to be able to take my favourite boys (my dad, James and his nephew, Austin) to have a private tour of the aircraft, and experience the luxury of the new state-of-the-art Business Class seats and features that passengers will undoubtedly enjoy on the almost 17 hour and 45 minute commute from Perth to London.
I was particularly excited to see the crew rest compartments at the front of the aircraft, and explore the brand new galleys and see the stowages and carts. Everything was so new and shiny; it almost made me want to fly as crew again! Then I remembered how hard work it is, and how happy I am to be on the ground and have the best of both worlds. I really am incredibly lucky! I also know that the carts and galleys won’t stay that squeaky clean for too long 😉
Here are some photos of the new Dreamliner, inside and out, and also some links to even more information should this not quench your thirst for facts!
Do you think you could travel for the best part of 18 hours in one go? I know as crew it would be hard work but ultimately, very worth it!
I would love to hear your thoughts!
