All’s Fair in Reserve and War

Looking back on Reserve (with my new head piece that I LOVE!)

Well, there you have it. My month of roster- less reserve will be complete in around about 10 or so hours when I return to Dubai from the final flight on my roster: Paris. Paris is one of those destinations that inspires me. It inspires me to explore, to wander, to get lost, to take pictures and to write! So here I am, sharing it all with you. I was eating my lunch by the Seine today, people watching, and something hit me. Without this month of uncertainty, I would not have appreciated my job, life style and upcoming flights as much as I will now. On my flight before this one, I was pulled out for another Turnaround, but the crew were lovely and so were the passengers. The flight was busy and tiring, yet satisfying. It just goes to show that the people around you can influence your thoughts, and if you have positive thoughts, they will reflect back onto you and everyone will feel that little bit lighter! It is also once when your hard work is recognised and appreciated!

I am also grateful for the time that I have spent with my friends during this month. They have either been on reserve too, or I am in Dubai on their days off. It’s been great! We have had lunches, dinners, been to the beach, pool, mall and spent time indulging  in girliness. It has been exactly what I needed. This month has by no means been easy (and I hope to try and skip reserve next time), but it has been an eye opener and made me stronger and better. Now I have some great flights to look forward to, and I am flying with friends again so no matter what happens it will be fun! I also have leave coming up, so I am feeling very grateful for that too, and the chance to Graduate from uni surrounded by my family and friends, and spend some much needed time with the one I love. Bring on September! x

Here are some positives from the month that has been August

  1. That headpiece is lovely! Where did you get it?

Particularly loved your last post as it takes someone special to talk about the downsides of the job without simply “whining” about it. As you know I’m a wannabe still and I love to see crew who can let us know about the dark side without being overly negative. I’m glad that you have found so many reasons to stay and to uplift you even during the harder days!

And may I add, if I ever get this job and fly to Dubai myself, I’ll be sure to reach out to your for some tips on the best places to eat, because you seem to be, just like myself, a huge food addict, haha 😉

    • Thank you for the kind words, Silvia! I’m so glad that you find pleasure in reading my words, because I love to write them 🙂 I have no doubts that when the time comes along you will give it your best and the rest will come! When you do make it here, I can show you my favourite places to eat, so yummy and cheap compared to Australia. The headpiece is from Esther Boutique, an Australian online shop! Keep smiling (and reading!) and good luck for the future 🙂
