PER-DXB!

Good morning! Or should I say “sabahu al- khayr”? πŸ˜‰ at the moment it’s 6:35am local Dubai time, which is 10:35 am for those of you playing at home in Perth! I arrived in Dubai right on schedule at 22:05 after a smooth and comfortable flight! Right from check in I was treated like royalty (almost royalty, I doubt that Kate Middleton has to empty her bags in the departures hall for being severely over herΒ allowance!), I was given an aisle seat next to a wonderful German Australian couple, Inge and Mike from Lancelin. They were a somewhat familiar face due to the fact that in the departure lounge, they gave Lachy their surplus Red Rooster. Well done Lach! πŸ˜‰ The flight was smooth and comfortable and I felt at ease knowing Inge and Mike were from home and sitting near me. Thank you Inge and Mike! I set about opening my “air mail” (thank you Aly and Brittany!) and then went on filling in my “nerd book” as the crew called it. After they discovered that I was a “new joiner”, the crew were even more accommodating and responsive than before! They even let me wear their famous red hats for practice, and took some commemorative photos for me! (This is usual the procedure, I’m told, taking photos for special occasions. All part of the experience!) I was further spoilt with Crew fruit and some extra snacks, and a green tea on call. It was such a lovely welcome and I am very grateful to Sahar, Muntasir, Lucy and the rest of the crew for being so kind and allowing me to goggle at them whilst they went about their daily duties. It was great!

After the flight I made my way through the arrivals hall at Terminal 3 and down to the baggage claim. As soon as I got out of the lift there was a massive billboard that had my name in HUGE letters. The welcome team escorted me to collect my bags and I made a friend, Ezra, from Turkey also here for the same reason. She is lovely too! After that it was through to customs where my bag was subject to x rays and after the all clear, we went to the lounge and HR where our representative was waiting for us with 3 other girls to give out welcome packs and Sim cards! I am a nerd and already bought one, but this DU sim will be great once I find my feet..and a new phone πŸ™‚ Then we were escorted to our Mercedes 4WD and taken to our hotel. The hotel is smack bang near the airport and highway, but it is clean, functional and pretty so I am rapt! After unpacking and having some tea and international chocolates with my roommate from Greece (yay!) I had a shower and went to bed. I was a bit emotional last night but this is to be expected! This is me we are talking about, here. Taylor packs too much and cries but always makes the most of where she is so that is my plan for today! Inductions start tomorrow and I will be busy until next Saturday when my tour of Dubai is, so we are going to go exploring and hunt down some coat hangers today for all of my beautiful clothes that have been neglected! Attached are some photos of my journey, I’d just like to again point out that all photos are my own, my employer is not affiliated with this blog nor do the opinions and views represent the company in any way. They are solely my own and the photos attached are novelty gifts from the crew. They are just for fun πŸ™‚ I hope I have covered all bases, and on that note I am going to get up and have a look around at the hotel. Maybe even hit the gym! (Yes James, the gym ;)) Speak soon xx

  3. Thank you so much for sharing this lovely post! I have been following your blog from the beginning and I really like it!

Could you please answer me one question. I want to finish my studies before I would love to work as a FLight Attendant in Dubai. I could start on the first of August. How early can you apply? I know you finished your Studies first, so how early did you apply?

Thank you so much and I wish you all the best!

    XO Rosa

    • Hi Rosa, sorry for the delay. I am not really authorised to comment on whether or not you should finish your studies first, but in my situation I applied in June and joined in December.I am so happy that I was able to complete my Bachelor’s degree first! I hope this helps πŸ™‚ good luck! x
